Théâtre de la Guimbarde is a Belgian theatre company based in Charleroi, dedicated to creating high-quality performances for children and young audiences. Founded in 1972, the company is recognized internationally for its artistic research, poetic visual language, and strong focus on early childhood theatre. Its productions often combine movement, music, objects, and sensory experiences to engage audiences beyond words and across cultures. In addition to touring extensively in Belgium and abroad, Théâtre de la Guimbarde develops educational and community projects that foster creativity, cultural participation, and encounters between generations. Gaëtane Reginster
Gaëtane discovered La Guimbarde while working as a journalist, when she attended Ombres et Lumières, the first theatre production for babies in French-speaking Belgium. Deeply inspired by this experience, she joined the company in 2004, initially developing its touring activities and the Pépites festival.
As an artist, she draws inspiration from Africa and has created several productions for very young audiences, including Roi d’Argile (2013), developed with Théâtre Éclair in Ouagadougou, Taama, Tiébélé, Walangaan and Yaaba. Her work explores themes such as exile, transmission, water, memory and intercultural encounters.
Through her creations, Gaëtane seeks to connect the world of early childhood with the beauty, complexity and diversity of human experience, through music, voice, movement and storytelling. Alongside directing La Guimbarde, she leads artistic training programmes for early childhood professionals and develops sensory exploration workshops. Her upcoming production, Trame(s), uses thread and Senegalese rain cotton as metaphors for early childhood.
Hipployte Bohouo
Hippolyte is a choreographer, dancer and actor born in Côte d’Ivoire, where he began practising dance and theatre from an early age. He graduated from the National Institute of Arts and Cultural Action (INSAAC) in Abidjan in 2007 and moved to Brussels in 2010.
Since then, he has created and directed around ten stage productions that have toured internationally. Powerful and deeply sensitive, his work explores themes rooted in human experience and contemporary social issues, combining artistic expression with a strong engagement with the world around him.
Daniela Ginevro
After completing a bachelor’s degree in Roman Philology, Daniela Ginevro trained at the Kleine Academie in Brussels, where she studied theatrical creation through Jacques Lecoq’s pedagogical approach. She works today as a director, author, and teacher. Since joining Théâtre de la Guimbarde in 2009 as an associate artist, she has written and directed productions for young audiences, including La petite évasion, Respire, and Lisières.

Her artistic work combines text, music, movement, and video, with a strong focus on the expressive potential of the body and metaphorical stage writing. In 2013, she created Etc., her first production for very young children. Deeply engaged in artistic experiences with early childhood audiences, she regularly collaborates on productions for young children and has twice received the Annick Lansman Prize, in 2016 for Respire and in 2023 for Au-dedans la forêt. In 2025, she co-directed Le Plongeon, a critically acclaimed production for children aged 2.5 to 5. Her latest text, Ronces, is adapted and directed by Camille Sansterre in 2026.
Audrey Dero
Trained as an actress at INSAS, Audrey Dero creates visual theatre projects that combine object manipulation and physical performance. Drawn to intimate forms of theatre, she develops poetic and sensory experiences that foster curiosity, gentleness and wonder, often in close proximity to the audience. Her work explores non-verbal communication and the relationship between performer and spectator through small-scale settings and immersive encounters.
Inspired by collage techniques, she assembles images, objects and bodies to create visual narratives rich in associations and imagination. The body itself becomes a theatrical object, contributing to a distinctive stage language that is both playful and evocative.
Alongside her own creations, she works as an actress with renowned directors including Guy Dermul, Emilie Maréchal and Johan De Smet, collaborating with companies such as the KVS, Océan Nord and Kopergietery.
Laurence Jeanne Grosfils
Laurence is a children’s author and illustrator whose books, published under the pen name Laurence Afano, have been released in numerous countries.
Her storytelling universe also takes shape through her story boxes, stage designs for theatre for young audiences, and metal sculptures.
She teaches visual arts education to future primary school teachers at the Haute École Léonard de Vinci. In addition, she leads art workshops for children, notably with Patrimoine à Roulettes, and provides continuing education and professional development training for adults.
Alice VDV
Alice Vdv is a Belgian musician, composer and performer whose multidisciplinary artistic background led her naturally towards music. A guitarist, bassist, keyboard player, singer and songwriter, she has developed a rich and eclectic career spanning rock, pop, hip-hop, jazz, electronic, world and classical music.
Since her first concerts at the age of 14, she has collaborated with numerous renowned artists and toured extensively across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, performing at major festivals and venues. Alongside her work as a performer, she composes and arranges music for other artists and has contributed to recordings released by several independent labels.
A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Mons (ARTS²) in applied and interactive music composition, she also creates soundtracks for film, theatre and exhibitions. In addition, she works as a stage and musical arrangement coach, supporting artists in developing their live performances and creative projects.
