The HELIOS Theater in Hamm, Germany is an independent house with two decades worth of experience in theatre for the very youngest children from the age of two. It is among the very first in Germany to specialize in this age group and highlight the importance of cultural education for the youngest children.
Its productions are regularly invited to theatre festivals in Germany and throughout Europe. The ensemble fosters theatre for the very young through research and exchange in Germany and internationally. Biennially, HELIOS Theater organizes “hellwach”, the international theatre festival for young audiences and regularly hosts conferences and symposia dealing with current questions in theatre for children and young people.

Barbara Kölling
Artistic Director
Barbara Kölling is director, founder and artistic director of the HELIOS Theater. Her work is characterized by international and interdisciplinary collaboration with artists from the fields of drama and puppetry, music and composition, visual arts, choreography and dance.
Rebecca Riegel
Public Relations
Rebecca Riegel studied Theatre Studies and Audiovisual Publishing and is responsible for public relations within the HELIOS Theater: managing its social media and website, maintaining contact with the press and gathering information for publications.
Michael Lurse
Artistic Director/Artist
Michael Lurse is founder and artistic director of HELIOS Theater. Trained in puppetry, he works as a performer, author, director and set designer. The focus of his interest is the work with objects and materials.
Gloria Lautenschläger
Project Manager
Gloria Lautenschläger is working as an organizer and project manager at the HELIOS Theater. They are responsible for all the “behind the scenes” work like contracts, finances and planning, so the creative part of the HELIOS theatre can work smoothly.
